Writing Assignment
Due: Wednesday (10/29)
Students must complete #1.
They will then choose 2 or three to do:
1. After reading the story “The Cricket in Time Square”, make a Venn diagram to compare and contrast Chester’s feelings of being relocated to the city with the feelings of displaced characters from other stories, such as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. Please write in complete sentences and give good details. You may add pictures. Do the Venn diagram on loose-leaf or white computer paper and then back it with construction paper.
2. What do you think Chester will do next? Write an ending for the story that describes his further adventures. Please write at least one page. Give details and make sure to watch your spelling and grammar.
3. Dramatize tucker, Harry, and Chester’s trip to Time Square. What would the close friends say to Chester? Add scenes that are not included in the story.
